The planting of sweet corn we are starting today has been severely damaged by wildlife and the picking has been difficult and quantity has been reduced. We will have some sweet corn this weekend but it will be a limited supply. This planting was damaged the worst and hopefully the supply will improve.
We will be at the Eau Claire Downtown Farmer’s Market Saturday, August 10th with a limited supply of sweet corn, cucumbers, potatoes, onions, zucchini, green bell peppers, and hot jalapeno peppers. Our self-service roadside stand in Arkansaw will stocked with available produce from 8am until 6pm daily. Due to excessive rains in June and cooler temperatures our tomatoes plants did not set heavy this year. There are a few small green ones so we may have a limited supply at some point but will not have many this year. We do not expect to sell tomatoes by the bushel this year.
Our muskmelon and watermelon crop is delayed this year due to the weather. We have also had issues with the deer. We expect to start getting a few soon but will not have many for a while.
The squash, pumpkins, and gourds are growing and looking nice. We expect to have the early varieties available around the end of August or early September.
