Cucumbers are a vine plant that grow from mid-July until frost.  We grow both slicing and pickling varieties.

We DO NOT sell special order small pickling cucumbers for canning.

These cucumbers are great for making pickles, salads or as a snack.

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons celery seed
  • 2 onions
  • 8 cucumbers
  • 1 pepper (optional)

Wash the cucumbers but do not peel them.

Stir the sugar, white vinegar, salt, and celery seed in a bowl until the sugar and salt dissolve.

Slice the cucumbers and onions very thinly.

Stuff a 3 quart plastic container with the cucumbers and onions. Then add the cool liquid mixture up to the top of the container.

This recipe will make about 3 quarts.  Store in the refrigerator.  Will keep up to 3 months.

Refrigerated Pickles are a Sam family favorite recipe to make with fresh cucumbers.
