While the strawberries didn’t like the heat the rest of our produce did! We are fortunate to have overhead irrigation for all of our produce. We have been busy hoeing and weeding our melons, pumpkins, peppers, and mulching our tomatoes the last few weeks.
Below are pictures of how our produce is currently looking and when we think it will be ready for you to enjoy:
The sweet corn is tasseling and cobs have formed with white silk on top. Over the next few weeks the cobs will continue to grow and the silk will turn brown. We expect the sweet corn to be ready around the middle of July.
We have started to see small cucumbers on both the slicing and pickling varieties. We expect to have cucumbers available around mid-July.
Our zucchini is starting to blossom and we are seeing small zucchini on the plants. We expect to have zucchini/summer squash available around the mid-July.
This year we are growing both yellow and red onions again. The onions have nice sized bulbs on them and we expect to have them available around mid to late July.
The potatoes are nearly ready! We will have both Red Norland and Yukon Gold potatoes available. They will be available when we start with cucumbers around mid-July.
Our tomatoes are starting to blossom and we are seeing some small green tomatoes on many plants. We expect the tomatoes to be ready around late July to early August.
This year we are again planning on having bell peppers, sweet peppers (orange, yellow, and red), and hot jalapeno peppers. We are starting to see a few blossoms on the plants and expect them to be ready around the beginning of August.
The muskmelon we transplanted on plastic are blossoming and have some small melons. We expect to start having muskmelon starting around the beginning of August.
The watermelon we transplanted on plastic are also blossoming and have some small melons. We expect to start having watermelon starting around early to mid August.
